The First Ballet Class

The boys had their first ballet class today. They did wonderfully.

Well, there was that one moment where I watched seven precious little ballerinas holding the barre and attempting an arabesque, while three little boys attempted to rip the barre off the wall. But other than that, they did great and they had a lot of fun.

And, all of the boys wore shorts without much protest. Whew!

Parents are not allowed in the classroom until the final class, but I promise there will be video eventually.

I just hope that barre is bolted to the wall really, really well.

I never once have heard a young man say "boy am I glad my Mom let me take ballet when I was a little kid". Can't wait to see the video :>)

Really Dave? I know some very talented athletes (Running Backs, Wide Receivers, Basketball Players and Distance Runners) That credit early ballet or other dance classes for their ability and finesse.

You "know" some talented athletes or you read about them somewhere? Again, from someone who rarely misses sports center, never heard it

Dave, better "let me take ballet" than "MADE me take ballet!"

I really should take video of them telling me how much they want to take the class. I may need it to defend myself later! :)

Dave, As much as I respect your devotion to Sports Center try Lynn Swann and Herschel Walker for starters, then look at how many pro athletes have won Dancing with the stars or look at how many boxers use dance in their training regime...
Sorry, But dance is a popular training aid for many athletes and just where do you think those touch down dances came from?

Christy, You are 100% right! Anything you can say you let them do will not be used against you in future therapy sesions.

My 2 boys were in dance with their sister, K and 1st grade - they were the stars of the show - so so cute - the only boys in the class. I can stillsee them with the bear costumes dancing to Bear Necessities (or Bear Sesames as they called it) I cherish those dance pics. Of course now at 13, they swear I "forced" them. Both are excellent athletes and I tell them it was their dance training. Love it!
