Soooo HOT

It is so hot here. Meltingly, miserably, horribly hot. So what did I do today? I took my guys for a walk.

That's right. Genius that I am, I carried nearly 60 pounds of boy out to a stroller, strapped them all in and hoofed it around the neighborhood.

It's proof that three crabby boys will drive you to do crazy things.

Seriously though, the guys clearly needed a change of pace this afternoon, and they enjoyed the walk. But then why shouldn't they? They enjoyed a little breeze, and there was no effort on their part. I, on the other hand, proved that Secret Clinical Strength won't hold up to a two-mile walk pushing almost 80 pounds.

As the sweat poured off me, I suddenly realized that I was headed to the fair tonight. And after my sweatfest, I had a treat coming to me. FUNNEL CAKE.

That's right. Powdered sugar on my chin. Crispy crunch in my mouth.

Mmmmm...

Come to mama.

Gotta love fair season!

Stopping Traffic

Alex, Sam and Isaac: Cute enough to stop traffic.

The boys and I went for a stroll around the neighborhood today. We didn't get very far before we stopped to talk with a neighbor who was waiting for her son's school bus to arrive. We were still chatting when the bus pulled up.

The bus driver stopped about 20 feet in front of us on the other side of the road and let the neighbor's son off. Then she started to pull away. As she drove by us she realized that there were THREE babies in the stroller.

She stopped, BACKED her bus up, opened her window and said, "Are all three of them triplets?"

It took every ounce of willpower I had not to say, "Nope, only two of them."

Instead I smiled and said, "Yes, they are."

Then the school bus driver, with her load of 40 some screaming, yelling children, said to me, "You've sure got your hands full."

She's telling me that I've got MY hands full? While driving a bus full of rowdy school kids?

Oh, the irony.

Road Trip

Today was an unseasonably warm February day, so I decided to take advantage of it by loading the boys into the stroller for a little jaunt around the neighborhood. It was their inaugural ride in the Runabout, affectionately known as "The Beast." They loved it, but we kept it short because nap time was quickly upon us.

Sam, Alex and Isaac take their first ride in "The Beast."

I love my Runabout. It pushes easily and rolls smoothly, even with nearly 4o pounds of boy in it! Talk about a great workout. We got ours secondhand, and it still cost more than our first car. (Admittedly, our first car was an old Plymouth Duster, so it wasn't worth much, but still!) I know we'll put a lot of miles on this stroller, especially if they continue to enjoy the ride as much as they did the first time out.

I need to practice loading and unloading to speed things up, but now I can't wait for spring to get here so we can get out more frequently.

The Great Stroller Debate of 2008

Well, we have finally settled the Great Stroller Debate of 2008, and we did it for less than the cost of the first vehicle we ever owned. Last night we became the proud owners of a Runabout -- a beast of a stroller -- but then what stroller that seats three isn't something of a beast? The Runabout comes highly recommended by parents of multiples, and we were glad to find a used one for sale.

Here's the triplets' first ride:

We've researched and debated what to buy almost as long as we've known we were expecting triplets. Do we buy a stroller that takes car seats? A quad stroller to also hold Amelia? Two doubles? One that folds? New? Used? It's a relief to finally have this decision done with.

The Runabout does not fold, so we've got a hitch attachment to carry it on the back of the van. I told you it was a beast! But it maneuvers well, is narrow enough to fit through doorways and aisles, and has big wheels to go over virtually any terrain. We also got a well-used (and free!) triple stroller from another family that has been triply blessed. It folds down seats and all, so it will be handy for short trips where we only need to get the babies from the car to the destination.

I'll get my exercise pushing three kids in this stroller, won't I?
