The other night at supper the boys had yogurt. It's one of their favorite foods, and it gives them a chance to practice using their spoons...on each other.
Apparently it's easier to feed someone else than it is to feed yourself!
The boys have entered that annoying phase of throwing food. The biggest problem is that one does it and the other two find it funny and join in. I can't remove everyone's tray fast enough!
The biggest culprit is Alex. So, the other day at snack time I took his tray away and left him with just the small piece of graham cracker he had in his hand. That's when Alex discovered that he could do this:
Hmmm...if my fingers can hold food, why not my toes?
Look, Mom!
What do you mean I shouldn't eat it? It's still food.
I'm sure this skill will come in handy down the road. It's bound to be big with the ladies, right?
In the meantime, it sure draws big laughs from his brothers.
We pulled Sam, Isaac and Alex up to the table for snack time the other day. It was the first time they sat at the table instead of in "Highchair Alley." They sure thought they were big boys!
The three of them giggled and grinned, and then this chain reaction happened:
No, we don't need a drum set or three, thank you very much. The boys can make plenty of noise without one, as you can see.
I know this is a harbinger of things to come. Because I'm sure that over the years there will be much more egging each other on that takes place around the dinner table!
A couple days ago I gave the boys some cereal puffs. It was their first finger food, though they munched on some graham crackers at Grandma Alice's during vacation.
They were pretty adept at getting the food into their mouths, and they loved it! (Alex, of course, loved it the most.) I loved the 10 minutes of relative peace and quiet it brought me.
The only squawking I heard was when one brother ran out of puffs and started to "share" off the tray next to him.
Now they can do a little self-feeding while I get the rest of their lunch ready. That sure makes life a little easier.
Here's a short slideshow of some photos I took.
I have video, too, but it needs some serious editing, and as time is always at a premium around here, I'll probably never get it ready to post.
Who knows? The government might come through with my Diaper Czar and Laundry Czar and I might just surprise you.
Amelia has taken to her role as big sister like a fish to water. The other day she wanted to help Daddy feed her brothers. Check out the great job she did!
