And the Winners Are...

All you get are bragging rights, but here are our top picks for name suggestions. Thanks to everyone for playing along!

Most Creative

Aunt Mary for AJ, Josh and Luke said...

  • Brace yourselves- AJ, Josh and Luke have come up with a few names for you. They are all sure you are having 3 boys so the boy names they suggest are: Tony Lucas (as in Tony Romo), Vince Joshua (as in Vince Young), Duke Jordan (it's obvious right!)

The last name comes from my nephew A.J., the world's biggest Duke basketball fan and a basketball fan in general. His middle name is Jordan -- for Michael Jordan, of course.

Most on Our Wavelength

Make sure they are 3 names that flow smoothly together when you are calling (yelling) them out! They will probably think they all have the same long name the first few years of their life.

  • Girls: Maria Elise (kinda like Mary Alice huh?), Hannah Jean, Sara Olivia. See how all the girls names would end in "a" like Amelia?
  • Boys: I already used all my favorite boy names, but you are welcome to use them again if you wish. William David, Samuel Thomas, Patrick Jeffry (just don't call him Pat... I like Patrick but don't care for it shortened.)

  • How about Olivia or Lydia? I like Curtis for a boy. Still thinking...

Irene said...

  • Boys: Gregory, Luke, Samuel
  • Girls: Madison, Makenzie, Emma

Emily & Ed said... Ed & I had a hard enough time agreeing on Hannah's name and you want me to suggest 6 names!?! OK here goes:

  • Girls - Julianne or Julia (Julie for short), Carolyn, Madelyn
  • Boys - Kent, Kyle, Andrew

This took some thinking - too much pressure to come up with middle names - family names are good to use there.

Best Attempt at Using Family Names

  • Girls--Alice, Carol and Elaine
  • Boys--- Gene, Wayne and Ernie
  • 2 boys 1 girl: Gene, Ernie and Alice
  • 2 girls 1 boy : Alice, Elaine and Wayne

  • For boys I think Virgil David, Kyle Daniel, Dennis Michael, and Jeffrey Paul; for girls Judith Staci, Sheryl Cathleen, Mary Teresa, and Christina Karen.

Names We Haven't Considered

For girls, I love the names ... Pixie Kristin, Alyssa Mae, and Willow Dawn. For boys, I adore the names Taten Elijah, Gryphon Alexander, and Graycen Nicholas.

Sorry Anonymous, but Pixie and Gryphon? Never entered our minds, and probably won't make the final list, but you get points for originality!

Best Naming Convention Suggestion

Forget the expected all names start with the same letter, rhyming names or alphabetical names (we have an A, so a B, C, and D). The best suggestion came from Aunt Sheryl:

  • Since Amelia started with "A" ... go with the vowels A,E,I,O.

26 Weeks: Update and Photos

Here we are at 26 weeks, and still doing well. Hopefully the doctors will say the same after Wednesday's visit and ultrasound.

We're getting a lot of kicking action these days. It's like I swallowed an octopus! My belly button hurts -- I'm sure it's from the growing, but I have this image in my head of the babies playing tether ball with my belly button, though I know that's physiologically impossible. Here's the latest belly watch picture. Yes, I'm getting big now!

The major victory this week was a trip to the zoo on Saturday. I'm sure it will be my last for the summer. I walked even less than last time, and I still hurt on Sunday. I just can't recover like I used to. But, it was worth it to enjoy the dolphin show and the penguins with Amelia one more time.

Don't forget to play the name game and give us your suggestions for what to name the trio!

The Name Game

Here's your big chance, triplet fans, to share your ideas on what we should name the trio. Remember, we don't know what we are having, so we need lots of names.

We have a few naming rules ourselves, but I'm leaving the playing field wide open for all of you so you'll have plenty of room for commenting.

Here is some info that might be helpful to you:

Mommy's family names

  • Mommy: Christina Ruth
  • Grandma: Alice Jean
  • Grandpa: Ernest Laverne
  • Aunts & Uncles: Dave & Sheryl, Dan & Karen, Dennis & Teresa, Judy & Virgil, Paul & Staci, Mary & Kyle, Cathleen & Mike

Daddy's family names:

  • Daddy: Jeffry Wayne
  • Grandma: Carol Elaine
  • Grandpa: Wayne Elphage
  • Aunts & Uncles: Amy & Dave, Suzanne (Susie) & Andy, Allison, Jacob

Big Sister: Amelia Katherine

Whether you like traditional names, rhyming names, popular names, old-fashioned names ... or even want to put your own name in the hat (though that may cost you), share your ideas.

Outlandish and silly suggestions are welcome, too. We'll post some of our favorite suggestions in a week or so, giving their authors BIG bragging rights, if nothing else! :-)

Have fun!

And the Results Are In

According to the 31 of you who took part in the poll, Jeff and I are expecting all boys. Seriously? All boys? What are you thinking? Poor, sweet Amelia needs at least a sister out of this bunch!

Jeff has said from the beginning that if it's all girls he's remodeling the basement and moving in permanently. I said if it's all boys, we're adopting a sister for Amelia. No girl should have to grow up with only triplet brothers!

Right now our plan is to be surprised, but at least one of my sisters is lobbying very hard for us to find out if the babies are boys or girls or some combination. Reasons so far have included: "All the really cute newborn clothes are pink or blue." and "If you don't find out you'll have to come up with 9-12 names, and that's just crazy."

OK, the last argument has a little validity. Amelia was Baby Girl for a day while we decided which of our girl names would fit. But, we figure four girls names and four boys names will do the trick. Surely that's enough of a pool to find a name to suit each little blessing!

Of course my Mom, who has a nearly perfect track record when it comes to guessing the gender of her grandbabies, says she already knows what we're having. She's shared it so she has a witness that she's right, but no one's telling yet!
