Snow Day

We woke up this morning to find about an inch of snow of the ground. Jeff and I were bewildered, since we apparently missed that weather report completely. Amelia was delighted!

As soon as the boys went down for their morning nap, Amelia suited up and we headed out for a little fun in the snow.

I taught her how to play Fox and Goose, and then she made some snow angels.

Amelia had so much fun that she didn't even want to come inside when she got cold. Maybe she's got a little of that Frozen North blood running through her veins after all!

Fox and Goose is a game of tag played in the snow.

You make a great big circle with an X through the middle in clean snow. Everyone has to stay on the circle or the X as the "geese" run away from the "fox," who is It.

The more people you have, the more fun it is, since you can't pass each other on the paths and then you aren't always chasing the same person.

We used to play it ALL the time growing up in the Frozen North. Because we had snow ALL the time!

It's official, you live in the south. Remember a real "snow day" - like today in Madison. 14" of snow, 40 miles per hour wind, blizzard warnings, university and schools closed, a day off of work, christmas music on the radio, trip to the grocery store last night for butter, sugar and eggs, baking and sewing all day. Ahhhh, the pure joy of a good ole "snow day".
